In brief
An excluded area marks a spot inside a PV area where there are no modules, for example a roof window or a path. The spot is cut out of the area before the calculation and produces no reflections.
7.7.1 How to
- In the "Excluded areas" menu, choose the input method with "New excluded area".
- "Draw on map": each click sets a point; from three points on, a double-click ends the input. Or "Upload KML file": each polygon becomes a separate excluded area; elevation values are not used.
- Correct corner points on the map or in the "Coordinates" table.
7.7.2 Effect
An excluded area is a polygon in plan view without heights. Before the calculation, it is cut out of all PV areas it overlaps; there is no assignment to a specific area. No calculation points are created on the cut-out part. This applies to ground mounts, roof-parallel and roof-mounted installations; facades are not trimmed. An excluded area does not shade or occlude anything; obstacles do that (Ch. 10.1). The pre-analysis does not take excluded areas into account. Available in every plan without a quantity limit.
7.7.3 Points to note
In these cases no simulation starts; the to-do list reports them:
| Case | Remedy |
|---|---|
| Edges of an excluded area cross each other | correct the corner points |
| Excluded area lies on no PV area (facades do not count) | move or delete it |
| PV area lies completely under excluded areas | make the excluded area smaller or remove the PV area |
- KML import rejects the whole file if a polygon has holes or fewer than three valid points.
- Cross-tilt zones: For a PV area divided into zones, a single zone may be cut out completely.
- The report shows the excluded areas of the simulated version on the maps and in the appendix (Ch. 14).
